Experts helped address readers' concerns on what happens if you get it wrong.
For the latest in our series of exclusive webcasts, we welcomed two of
the country's leading payment card industry (PCI) experts to the SC
studio: Chris Gaines, senior manager of Deloitte's security privacy
practice, and Branko Lolich,,data security manager, EMEA at American
Express.
The event, chaired by SC editor Paul Fisher, was a great success, with
hundreds of the magazine's subscribers listening in and many using the
live link to send their queries directly to our studio guests. The pair
also gave presentations explaining PCI compliance and how to implement
it with minimum fuss and maximum effect.
The virtual torrent of questions fired at the experts in the studio
demonstrated the high level of interest in this subject. It seems there
is a great deal of confusion about what exactly PCI compliance is, and
what happens if merchants fail to meet their requirements. Other
questions concerned the financial penalties and whether they are legally
binding.
